K U N T ------------------- I'm still deciding whether to buy your book or a fifth or Jack-Daniels whiskey... About the same amount of money.... Both will probably give me a headache. wanker Diana - was it an accident or was she killed? Repose en paix Henri Tes amis ne sont dupes "Rest in peace, Henri, your friends have not been fooled" -- words on floral tribute at the funeral of Henri Paul (English trans) "One day I'm going to go up in a helicopter and not come back down" -- Princess Diana The conspiracy theorists have been in overdrive. I make make no apology for adding to their output. I have a special reason for doing so - my theories pre-date the death of Princess Diana. About two years before her death a thought came into my mind that Diana would be killed. This would be no assassin's bullet as JFK or John Lennon, but an accident. I had in mind a skiing accident or a tragedy at sea. The thought must have lodged deep in my mind as it troubled me for weeks, then gradually faded away. Looking back I now see I must have had a premonition. There can be only two reasons for her death, an accident or she was deliberately killed. An accident can not be ruled out. Accidents happen to the best of us. Even if there was a plot to kill Diana, it could have been pre-empted by an accident. If it was an accident, it still deserves explanation as all accidents have causes. I am not familiar with the road tunnel alongside the Seine, but I have to ask myself how did the driver lose control? Is there a sharp bend, did he hit something or skid, did the car have a mechanical fault (if so why?), was the driver drunk or in some way intoxicated? These questions can be answered by simple examination and investigation. Dodi's bodyguard is the key to many. The driver being drunk seems at odds with his reputation. Accident or not, we may never know, but the whole affair has a distinctly uneasy and messy feel to it. Mid-November 1997, two British Sunday tabloid newspapers published a survey that showed that a very high proportion of those surveyed felt the death of Diana was no accident and that she had been killed to silence her. The methodology used left much to be desired, but with a figure of 98% the results could not be easily dismissed and if nothing else showed the general feeling of disquiet and unease over the death of Princess Diana. If not an accident, then part of a conspiracy, if so by whom, and for what reason? Some of this I can answer by going back two years. My initial thoughts on this must have had a very strong impact as they haunted me for weeks and weeks, only very slowly did they fade away. I almost contacted Diana, but what could either of us have done? The wildest of ideas can have their basis in reality. This is how creative thought occurs and scientific advances are made. A wild thought occurs, logic is used to build a bridge back to reality. If the bridge can be built, then we explore where it has taken us. This I did, but first the premonition. Diana was to be killed, it wasn't to be an obvious murder but faked to look like an accident. How, what, or when I did not know? I constructed possible scenarios of a swimming or boating accident or possibly an accident on the ski slopes. But why? Was there a rationale behind these thoughts? Unfortunately yes. Diana was seen as a loose canon, a member of the establishment, but outside of the establishment, a danger to all concerned. Diana in her own words referred to her time as a member of the Royal Family as the "dark ages". Diana herself reinforced and confirmed my own fears. In her now infamous interview, where she asked to be the Queen of Peoples Hearts, she talked of her fears and paranoia, that her phones were tapped and 'they' were out to get her. You don't have to be paranoid for them to be out to get you, but it helps. Some years earlier when Andrew Morton's book Diana - Her True Story hit the streets it was met with universal derision and condemnation. Andrew Morton himself was viciously attacked. What was his crime? His crime was to let out the truth. Morton let it be known that his sources were close to the Princess, strong hints were dropped that the Princess approved. The Palace launched a search for the 'mole' who had briefed Morton, Morton had his office burgled, files rifled and a camera stolen. As events unfurled, especially Diana's infamous interview, it became clear that Morton was revealing the truth. The bombshell had yet to be dropped. A few weeks after her death, Morton revealed that the source for his book had been none other than Diana herself, she had supplied him with tapes and corrected the original manuscript. Morton dropped his bombshell as he launched an updated version of his book. Once again the establishment went into overdrive to condemn Morton. In the US death threats were issued. Morton's timing may have been tacky, motivated more by greed than setting straight the public record, but if anyone had a right to publish a book on Diana it was Morton. This attempt at gagging is reminiscent of the secrecy surrounding the Duke of Windsor, all material on which is embargoed for 100 years. Following her estrangement from Charles and the Royal Family, Diana was clearly seen as a danger. Would she spill the beans and cause permanent damage, striking at the very heart of the British Establishment. From now on it was Diana who was calling the shots, and she continued to do so right up to her death. She demanded, and got a multi-million pound divorce settlement. Things began to settle down. Several months before her death, Diana seemed to grow in stature. It was as though she fully realised for the first time the power she had. Who but Diana could crook her finger and have Henry Kissinger at her side one day, and be seen comforting Aids victims or a woman in Bosnia on another. Her arms around Elton John at the funeral of Gianni Versace will be fixed forever in the world's psyche. The President of the USA only thinks he has power, it was Diana who held the real power. The public reaction to her death showed to what degree her influence had spread across the world. Several months before her death Diana became involved in the campaign to ban landmines. Hilary Clinton had been pushing hard, but got nowhere. Maybe for the very first time realising the extent of her powers Diana offered to help. Visits to Angola, and Bosnia, a well publicised gala in the States. Governments around the world fell into line, Clinton who had steadfastly opposed a ban had no choice but in bad grace to climb aboard the bandwagon before it left without him. In a press interview following her Angola trip, Diana expressed shock at what she found, and that she had found new fulfilment as a champion of the fight to ban landmines, a crusade she hoped to take to trouble spots around the globe. Her response to critics was to brush their comments aside as 'merely a distraction' and vow not to change course. A few days before her death Diana was reported by a French journalist (Le Monde) as regarding the position of the previous Conservative government as hopeless. These remarks were immediately retracted by Diana's staff at Kensington Place, the journalist steadfastly clung to her report. Why should the remarks be withdrawn? If Diana believed in her campaign, which clearly she did, then her remarks would have only been an honest assessment, if anything a gross understatement. To withdraw those remarks, which were seen as correct, would only discredit herself and her position. Politicians who had been baying for her blood, grew ever more strident. What was this woman doing meddling in politics, why didn't she stick to old ladies and little children. Two weeks before her death the pictures of Dodi al-Fayed and Diana started to appear. A thought went through my mind 'Oh no, she has just signed her own death warrant'. Two weeks later and the rest was history, Diana lay dead in Paris. Mohamed al-Fayed, the father of Dodi, is the arch-villain of the British Establishment. For years he had been painted in the British media as an evil, cunning, corrupt Egyptian. Here was the man who with relative ease had bribed Members of Parliament and brought down the Conservative Government. The hatred was reported as mutual. Here was a man who had befriended Diana, another person outside of the establishment. Would they pool their resources, was there no depth to which this man would not go? Worse was to come. Looking to the future, would the man be present at the coronation of a future King as his step-grandfather? A future King, head of the Christian Church, defender of the faith, to have a Moslem as a half-brother? Would Diana follow her close friend's example, who had recently married a Pakistani cricketer, and turn into a Moslem? The establishment's worst nightmares were about to come true. The source of the al-Fayed family wealth has oft been questioned and never satisfactorily answered. This was brought to a head by the bitter battle for control and ownership of Harrods. Mohamed al-Fayed has family links, through his ex-wife, to Adnan Khashoggi, a Middle East arms dealer and possible CIA asset. This image of Mohamed al-Fayed portrayed in the British press was not that seen by the people who queued for many hours to sign the books of condolence, to them he was a man whose staff brought them food and drink whilst they patiently waited, a man whose son had brought their princess some happiness in her last days on earth, a man who had lost a much loved son, a man who their hearts and sympathy stretched out to almost as much as it did to their beloved princess. Even the press backed off for a while, expressing their rather guarded sympathy for a man who had just lost his son. The truce was short lived however, no sooner was Diana buried than the dirt on al-Fayed started to reappear in the press. Yes, it could have a been a very clever publicity stunt, to bring refreshments out, but if it was why did no-one else do it? If it was murder, who did it, who hatched the plot? This is not too difficult to answer. A shadowy, dark core at the centre of the establishment, accountable to no one and totally out of control. Eisenhower was the first to speak of a military-industrial complex out of control. During the talks to defuse the Cuban missile crisis, Kruschev confessed of military forces outside of his control, JFK admitted of the same problem. Kruschev was removed as too soft, JFK assassinated and replaced by the corrupt Johnson who stepped up the Vietnam war. Nixon entered into detente with China and wound down the Vietnam War, shortly afterwards, at the height of his popularity he was brought down by Watergate. The intelligence services destabilised, then brought down the Wilson Labour Government. The intelligent services in the UK have been repeatedly exposed as incompetent and out of control. Unlike the US there have been no public enquiries into their activities, there is no public accountability and it is only in recent years that official acknowledgement has been given of their very existence. Only weeks before the death of Diana, David Shayler, an agent of MI5, the UK internal security service, went public on the incompetence of MI5 and how it had been monitoring important public figures including Jack Straw, Home Secretary (the man nominally in charge of MI5) and Ted Heath, the former Prime Minister. The agent was not leaking any secure information or putting operations at risk, he was simply exposing malpractice and calling from within for greater accountability. To his shame, Jack Straw instead of applauding the man had him silenced. Silencing Shayler did not shut up the affair. A second MI5 agent, his girlfriend Annie Machon confirmed his story. Both were now on the run in Europe, hiding from the wrath of MI5. Some weeks later, exactly two weeks after the funeral of Diana, Annie Machon returned to England to be arrested at Gatwick airport. The manner of her arrest, was described in The Mail on Sunday (21 September 1997), who had published the initial revelations, as completely over the top, more fitting for a major terrorist or drugs trafficker than someone who had highlighted the failings and shortcomings of the British intelligence services. It does not take six burly men to arrest one young female of slender build who has returned to the country of her own volition, not that is unless the intention is to intimidate. The frightening scene of the arrest brought back echoes of KGB thugs intimidating dissidents, as did the smashing of the flat Annie Machon shared with David Shayler. Three weeks before her arrest, the security forces used the cover of a search warrant to smash up the flat that Annie Machon shared with David Shayler. If actions speak louder than words then someone was trying to put across a very strong message. Sunday 2 November 1997, The Mail on Sunday published the most damning revelations yet from ex-MI5 agent David Shayler on the level of incompetence at MI5. As a consequence of internal bungling MI5 failed to prevent the terrorist bombing of the Israeli Embassy in London, and failed to even notify Mossad of what they knew. There was then a crude attempt at a cover up. Monday 3 November 1997, ex-MI6 agent Richard Tomlinson appeared before Bow Street magistrates' court charged with offences under the Official Secrets Act. He was denied bail and remanded into custody for a week. He had been arrested at his home a couple of days before by Special Branch (the police wing of the Intelligence Services) and subjected to two days of interrogation at Charing Cross high security police station. His 'crime' was to attempt to publish a book on MI6. An injunction had prevented publication within the UK, rumours were circulating that he was about to publish in Australia. His mistake was not to have followed the the example of Peter Wright, ex-MI5 agent and author of Spycatcher published a decade earlier, and decamped to Australia. A week later, 9 November 1997, The Sunday Times described how, writing from his prison cell in Brixton, Richard Tomlinson saw himself as a political prisoner and the extraordinary lengths MI6 had gone to to hunt him down. And how Tomlinson relished the opportunity from open court to expose the hypocrisy, dishonesty and mismanagement at MI6. On Thursday 18 December 1997, Tomlinson was sentenced at the Old Bailey to 12 months imprisonment. In passing sentence, the judge said he was doing so 'in the national interest'. Following his release from prison, Tomlinson was constantly harassed by the intelligence services, and eventually fled the country, even though this was a breach of his parole conditions. He now resides in Geneva. On fleeing the country Tomlinson has made a number of allegations about MI6, one of these includes a plot to assassinate President Milosevic of Yugoslavia that bears an uncanny resemblance to the death of Princess Diana. The security services fear Internet. Numerous scare stories are planted in the media, repeated attempts are made to ban the use of encryption. Internet is the one free media, outside of government control, outside of unwarranted interference. On the day following Diana's funeral The Independent on Sunday reported the case of a man who had been stitched up by MI6 (the UK foreign intelligence agency). Several demonstrators broke into and occupied properties belonging to British Aerospace. The police brought in, before they saw there own lawyers, a lawyer working for BAe who interviewed the demonstrators. They had requested their own lawyers, as was their right, and been denied that right. The police allegedly released the names and addresses of the protesters to BAe. The following morning, so fast did it happen, protesters found temporary injunctions served on them by BAe at their home addresses. These were followed by injunctions that imposed a life time ban on setting foot on any named BAe property (a list several pages long) or being in the vicinity of. The cost of this action by BAe was estimated by one of the lawyers acting for the defenders at a million pounds. A week after the funeral, The Sunday Telegraph reported the intense lobbying the Pentagon were applying to Clinton not to agree to a ban on landmines. Their worst fears were that Clinton would even agree to the dropping of the US spoiler clause that would allow exemptions where 'national interests' were at stake. I give these examples as illustrations, I have many more examples at my fingertips. Diana had successfully campaigned against landmines. What next, a ban on arms to Indonesia, Turkey, a visit with Dodi to Palestinian Camps? Alarm bells were ringing very loudly. Coincidental with the death of Diana, an Arms Fair was taking place in Farnborough - a town known the world over as the site of the Farnborough International Airshow. To this Arms Fair some of the world's most repressive regimes were honoured guests of the UK Government - Turkey, Indonesia. On the day her death was announced they made a point of carrying on, 'business as usual' was quoted one arms dealer. All week, whilst the world expressed its grief the Arms Fair continued. Meanwhile across the country, major events were cancelled as a mark of respect. Following the funeral, millions observed a minutes silence. In Farnborough, the silence was broken by an executive jet flying into Farnborough Airfield. The merchants of death were clearly determined to give two fingers to one who had dared campaign against them. The response of the people of Farnborough to this shoddy behaviour was one of anger, revulsion and disgust. Letters published in the local press gave some idea of the anger that was felt. End of September, beginning of October, Farnborough was scheduled to host COPEX - Covert Operations Exhibition. On display and sale would be instruments of torture. Once again the world's most repressive regimes were to be honoured guests. Colonel Gadafy of Libya has asked the International Court of Justice in the Hague that when those responsible for the death of Diana be caught they be put on trial in Libya. The reason for what at first glance seems a strange request is that Dodi was a Libyan citizen and Gadafy's belief that both were assassinated by the British Intelligence Services. This belief has widespread acceptance in the Arab world, especially Egypt and Libya. It is easy to see why. A few weeks after Diana's death, an assassination attempt was made in Jordan by two Mossad agents on a prominent Hamas leader. Initially this was reported as a scuffle with two Canadian tourists. The two 'Canadian tourists' were Mossad agents holding forged Canadian passports. The incident backfired badly on Israel. In order to recover their two agents they were forced to release the spiritual leader of Hamas and dozens of Hamas terrorists. How did it happen? In the early hours of Sunday, Stephen Jessel, BBC Paris correspondence was speaking live on the BBC World Service and he was puzzled. How, he almost mused to himself did the paparazzi know Diana was in Paris at the Ritz? It was not public knowledge and he as a respected BBC correspondence was not privy to that knowledge. Earlier in the day she and Dodi had been in Sardinia. Who tipped off the paparazzi? Were they all paparazzi, or had a paparazzi been lent on? Was the chase deliberate? Was it intended to force the car to crash, if not here, then some other time, some other place? Many of the paparazzi disappeared, who were they, can those who were found at the scene shed any light on this? Was the car tampered with? The driver of the car was an anomaly. Why was he driving so fast? Was the car simply out of control, or was there more to it? The police report on the driver was clearly out of character with those who knew him. The security videos, and those who spoke with him and saw him before he departed on his fateful last journey, back those who speak highly of him. If in spite of all this, he was acting out of character, then why? Down the right-hand side of the car was a scratch and paint marks, indicating a possible brush with another car. Parts of the rear-end of a Fiat Uno were found at the crash scene, this could indicate a brush with another car or simply that the filthy French do not clean up after an accident. There are rumours floating around Paris of eyewitnesses seeing another car rapidly disappearing from the scene. One eyewitness said he saw a small black car leaving the crash scene at very high speed in what he thought were suspicious circumstances. The French have refused to release footage from security cameras along the route taken by the Mercedes, or to release footage from their own Ministry of Defence cameras (near the Paris Ritz). On Wednesday 8 October 1997, the French police announced their intention to check more than 100,000 Fiat Unos, that had been registered in and around the Paris area. It was made known that they were looking for a white Fiat Uno. This clashed with earlier rumours that the paintwork was red, blue or black, indicating, if nothing else, the degree of confusion and disinformation surrounding the case. The police also let it be known, that from the wreckage, it seemed that the Mercedes had been in collision with a Fiat Uno moments before the crash. An off-duty senior police office, reported being overtaken by a speeding white Fiat Uno, which then slowed and loitered at the tunnel entrance, seemingly waiting for the Mercedes. [The Mirror, Thursday 4 June 1998] Early June 1998, despite intense efforts by the French police, the Fiat Uno has not been found. Speculation that it has been destroyed, or is now out of the country. Several witnesses saw a motorcycle cut-up the Mercedes moments before the crash. They also saw a blinding flash, far more intense than a photographic flash. Speculation that this was an anti-personnel device used to disable the driver. [Diana: The Secrets Behind the Crash, ITV, Wednesday, 3 June 1998] Many more people and vehicles are known to have been in the tunnel than have so far given themselves up. Laurence Pujol, ex-girlfriend of Henri Paul, who had lived with him for five years said he wasn't a heavy drinker. Alexander Wingfield, a bodyguard to Diana and Dodi, spent the two hours before the crash with Henri Paul and detected no sign of drink. He had also driven with Henri Paul in the back-up car from the airport and noted his driving as professional. A sample of the liver showed Henri Paul was not a regular drinker. On Tuesday 9 September 1997 the results of the third test on the driver were published. All three tests had shown the driver to have consumed high quantities of alcohol. The third test also showed that he had been taking drugs. If the tests are correct then it raises more questions. Why was his behaviour so out of character, why did no one notice? ITV documentary Diana: The Secrets Behind the Crash (Wednesday, 3 June 1998), showed a high carbon monoxide content in Henri Paul's blood that did not correlate with his behaviour. Henri Paul was at the Ritz two hours before the crash. Where was he between driving from the airport and his being recalled back to the Ritz? This vital gap in his movements, hours before the fatal crash, are still not accounted for. The first duty of a bodyguard is to protect those in his care. Why did he not ensure the occupants of the car were wearing their seat belts? Moments before the fatal crash, Trevor Rees-Jones fastened his seat belt. Why? Trevor Rees-Jones failed to follow standard protection procedures. Paul Burrell, Diana's personal butler, arrived in Paris within hours of her death to collect her belongings and arrange their return to London. Though in the company of a Foreign Office official he was kept waiting for 40 minutes. He then found that all Diana's personal effects had been gone through and dispatched back to London. By whom, on whose orders, why? Neither he nor the FO official were able to obtain satisfactory answers to these questions. Paul Burrell found the experience extremely upsetting and distressing. These and many more questions need to be answered. Mohamed al-Fayed obviously felt something was wrong, why else did he bring in a top forensic scientist. For that he is to be applauded. I can only hope that he also has the foresight to bring in his own investigators and question all those involved. He needs to do this now whilst the evidence is fresh. Only Mohamed al-Fayed has the wealth to conduct such an investigation. Though al-Fayed also has a vested interest. If the driver was incapacitated, then the Ritz Hotel (as employer) and ultimately al-Fayed (as owner) are culpable. He may have other interests that are not yet apparent. But, even if the driver was pissed out of his brain and high as a kite, as the third autopsy would seem to indicate, this still does not let the paparazzi of the hook, as it was they who were chasing the car. The Sunday Telegraph (14 September 1997) reported that the bodyguard, Trevor Rees-Jones was under round-the-clock police protection on the direct orders of the chief of criminal investigations in Paris, Martine Monteil and that Mohamed al-Fayed had hired a team of investigators headed by an unnamed senior ex-Scotland Yard officer. Will the truth out? A difficult one to answer - too many people have vested interests, few, if any, of of the major players have clean hands. Mohamed al-Fayed (the Phoney Egyptian Pharaoh): repeatedly exposed in the British media as a vulgar, corrupt, conniving Egyptian. The DTI report on his business dealings: "The lies of Mohamed Fayed and his success in 'gagging' the press created new fact: that lies were the truth and that the truth was a lie." In their conclusion on the al-Fayed brothers: "dishonestly misrepresented their origins, their wealth, their business interests and their resources", and provided information which they "knew to be false". In an editorial, The Daily Telegraph noted that former Harrods employees had had their apartments bugged on the orders of Mohamed al-Fayed (Wednesday 15 October 1997). The previous day, Neil Hamilton, a former-MP and ex-government minister allegedly bribed by al-Fayed, claimed under oath in a submission to the House of Commons privileges and standards committee, that al-Fayed had personally ordered and overseen the forced entry of safe-deposit boxes stored at Harrods, he went on to say: "Mr Fayed has a well known record of deceit and invention ... an innate capacity for deceit". Scotland Yard confirmed that they were investigating the illegal entry of the safe-deposit boxes. The Observer, Sunday 30 November 1997, reported on the extensive monitoring by al-Fayed on the staff employed at Harrods. On Monday 2 March 1998, al-Fayed was arrested for allegedly stealing and tampering with items belonging to Tiny Rowland that had been stored in safe-deposit boxes at Harrods. Michael Cole (mouthpiece for al-Fayed): allegedly sacked by the BBC for leaking the Queen's Speech (refuted by Cole), universally detested by the media. On Friday 20 February 1998, Cole dramatically quit his post, apparently even he could no longer stomach the garbage he was spouting (The Express, Saturday 21 February 1998). Henri Paul (chauffeur, Ritz security): his friends are adamant that he is undergoing character assassination, a British newspaper reported him as a shady character, leading a seedy double life. ITV documentary Diana: The Secrets Behind the Crash (Wednesday, 3 June 1998), claimed Henri Paul was a member of the French Intelligence Service. Richard Tomlinson (ex-MI6) has claimed that Henri Paul was working for MI6. Trevor Rees-Jones (bodyguard): the only major player whose reputation has survived as remarkably clean, but his background as an ex-member of the Parachute Regiment does not enhance his standing, as anyone who has had the misfortune to live in the garrison town of Aldershot will testify, members of the Parachute Regiment are little more than thugs kitted-out in army uniform. On Saturday 28 February 1998, Trevor Rees-Jones issued a statement that following counselling sessions with a psychiatrist he was now able to recall much what of what had happened. The statement raised many questions - to what extent had information been planted in his mind, what undue influence had al-Fayed brought to bear now that Rees-Jones had returned to light duties, was Rees-Jones being paid for his story? On Monday 20 April 1998, Trevor Rees-Jones resigned from the service of al-Fayed, expressing a desire through his layers to 'move his life on'. Wednesday 23 September, Trevor Rees-Jones indicated his intention to sue the company that had hired the Mercedes to the Ritz. Paul Handley-Greaves ('security expert'): known as a liar and a cheat. Was involved in an elaborate plot to discredit Vanity Fair, by claiming to be in possession of stolen security videos from Harrods. James Hewitt (ex-lover, widely regarded as a shit): not an immediate player but his revelation in the ITV documentary Diana: The Secrets Behind the Crash (Wednesday, 3 June 1998), that he was warned off his relationship with Diana as 'not conducive to his health', that his 'security could not be guaranteed' and that he could meet the same fate as Barry Mannakee (Diana's personal bodyguard, killed in a motorcycle accident, 1988) lends some credence to the possibility Diana's death may not have been an accident. [The Times, Wednesday 3 June 1998] The Press: blood stained from their implied involvement in the death. Will do anything to shift the blame and focus of attention elsewhere. The truth may never out. Mid-October 1997, John Burton, the British coroner charged with investigating and recording a verdict on the death of Diana, publicly expressed his concern and frustration at his inability to get at the truth. He cited the disinformation surrounding the case and referred to the conspiracy theories appearing on Internet. Did they succeed? First, before I answer, does it make a difference, if, as I posed at the beginning it was an accident, or as the autopsies on the driver indicate, driver error, propelled by the paparazzi? To this the answer is no, as the end objective is met, the Princess is taken out of the game and hands are clean. To return to the posed question, did they succeed, the simple answer is no, and that has been answered by the millions who responded to her death. Anyone who spent an evening in Kensington Palace Gardens could not but helped be moved by the spirit that was in the place. The people want a memorial to Diana, they want more than a pile of stone, they want to see her work continue. As the Palace found to its cost, the public will not back down on this. A quiet revolution appears to be taking place, thirty years on after the revolutionary mood of the '60s. Then is was a radical element wanting a better world, to be cast aside by the '70s and gruesome '80s, now it is the whole population. A velvet revolution appears to have gripped the psyche. Can it succeed? Maybe, in the '60s the radical youth were greeted by the hard old men who grew up on war and knew nothing else. Now, those radicals of the '60s hold positions of power, are people of influence, will they, can they, deliver what they once dreamed of, now that the public demands it? Earl Spencer, in probably the most eloquent speech in history, pledged in a tribute to his sister to continue the work of Diana. He pledged to see that her sons would be brought up in the way she would have wished, that they would help to continue her work. It would be a very foolish person indeed who tries to oppose him. Both Tony Blair and Hilary Clinton have sensed and grasped the public mood. Both have pledged to continue her work. Outside Kensington Palace, I was struck by flowers from Iraqis mourning what for them was the loss of a beacon of humanity. The work on landmines has become a foregone conclusion - a world ban. It is amazing who has jumped on the bandwagon following Diana's death. Robin Cook (UK Foreign Secretary) pushing hard for a ban as though it has been his lifelong ambition, if nothing else it has added some substance to his ethical foreign policy which until then noticeably lacking in substance. A general, in a letter to The Times, highlighted the lack of military utility of landmines and gave the campaign his whole-hearted backing. What next, a ban on arms to repressive regimes such as Turkey and Indonesia? This is a logical extension, and probably something Diana would have moved on to once she realised the full extent of her power for good. For everyone, the world over, a light has gone out, but as the many candles burning in Kensington Palace Gardens has shown, there are many who are determined to keep that light burning. As one, with Tony Blair and Hilary Clinton I am proud to be counted as one who will help to move her work forward for the poor, the sick, the disadvantaged, for all of humanity. It is for others to light their own candles to banish the forces of darkness and show that they are finally defeated. The forces of darkness may have extinguished one flame, but a million stand its stead each burning with the same spirit and passion. There were those who from a position of ignorance and bigotry chose to ridicule this account. History may yet prove them wrong. Within hours of the tragedy, conspiracy theories started to appear on the Web, within days serious questions were raised in Cairo, including the publication of a book. Once the initial shock had wore off, dark hints were made, then questions started to be asked, soon the possible presence of other vehicles became more than mere unsubstantiated rumour and speculation. On Saturday 14 February 1998, The Times raised the issue with the stark headline 'Diana: was it murder?'. The article was attributed to Thomas Sancton and Scott MacLeod, authors of Death of a Princess: An Investigation. Having posed the question, no clear cut answer was given other than to highlight, as has been done here, the many riddles and puzzling elements of her death. Still more questions were raised in an ITV documentary Diana: The Secrets Behind the Crash, broadcast Wednesday, 3 June 1998. The programme raised the possibility of Henri Paul being a member of the French Intelligence Service, serious flaws in his blood sample, and the presence of a motorcyclist who tried to cut-up the Mercedes moments before the crash and may have been the cause of a blinding flash deliberately aimed to disable the driver. In a follow-up studio discussion Bernard Ingham (former mouthpiece of Lady Thatcher) and Rupert Allison (self-styled intelligence expert) both demonstrated their ignorance and bigotry. David Shayler (ex-MI5 agent) was barred by government threats from participating in the studio discussion.
  5. Drugs experts leading an inquiry into the death of Britain's former weapons inspector in Iraq, David Kelly, say his death was “murder” and not suicide. Experts also called on the police to launch a murder inquiry into Dr Kelly's death, casting serious doubt on the official claim the scientist overdosed on painkillers. According to Dr Andrew Watt who is a top clinical pharmacologist, Kelly could have only take a “safe” dose of coproxamol painkiller tablets as there was so little of the substance in his blood after he died. “I reported to the Thames [Valley Police] force that I believe that the death of Dr Kelly may have been murder. I have received an acknowledgement and they have given me an incident number,” Watt said. He added he has been “told that the inquiry is being conducted by a very senior officer”. This comes as other reports strengthen doubts about the validity of the verdict by the Hutton inquiry which took priority over an inquest normally required for cases of suspicious death. According to Daily Mail Kelly left an answer-phone message for his Friend Nigel Cox a few days before his death on July 18, 2003, saying he is looking forward to joining him for a game of cards on July 23. Cox who was on holiday when Kelly left him the message, heard it only after his friend's death. “Hi Nige, I will see you at crib next Wednesday” said the message according to Cox who concluded Kelly's tone was positive and not suicidal. Cox said he told the Thames Valley Police about the message as its tone could help them ensure Kelly was not thinking of suicide but the force never came around to collect the message. This is while according to Dr Michael Powers QC who is the representative of a group of doctors pushing for a full inquest in to Kelly's death “Establishing evidence of intent to commit suicide is essential”. “It is very surprising Thames Valley Police failed to follow up this important lead. Were there to be a coroner's inquest this evidence would have to be investigated,” Powers said. Thames Valley Police has refused to comment on why they failed to collect the answer-phone message. Kelly was found dead after he left his home in Oxfordshire for a daily walk with a cut left wrist artery. A few days before his death he had disclosed to the BBC that the government had “sexed up” a dossier on Iraq's alleged weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) to justify the invasions of the Middle Eastern country. The British and the US governments never found any weapons of mass destruction in Iraq after they occupied the country in 2003. Mr. Bartlett said he had seen more blood at a nosebleed. By midday Dr. Kelly's left wrist had been gouged and his ulnar artery severed, with copious amounts of blood. Corpses do not suddenly spout oodles of blood. So where did this blood come from? When the pathologist arrived around midday he found the perfect suicide scene. 6. 'Why I'm certain my friend Dr Kelly was murdered' By Andrew Malone Last updated at 2:58 PM on 3rd August 2010 Comments (64) Add to My Stories His friend: Mai Pederson has damming new evidence to suggest Dr David kelly's death was not a suicide They used to walk the streets of Baghdad together after dark. She liked to clear her head after the tensions of the day; he wanted to compensate for the missed strolls he normally took in the Oxfordshire countryside near his home. But these nightly outings for David Kelly, the ill-fated weapons expert, and Mai Pederson, his beautiful young U.S. military interpreter, also provided an intriguing insight into how perilous the British scientist's position had become. A senior member of a United Nations inspection team in Iraq, Kelly's mission was to discover whether Saddam Hussein was hiding weapons of mass destruction - and to determine whether America and Britain would go to war. The stakes could not have been higher. To help him deal with obfuscating Iraqi officials, he was assigned Pederson, a gifted linguist with the U.S. Air Force who also had secret, high-level links to American intelligence. Beguiled by his mysterious younger colleague, Kelly asked if he could walk with Pederson at night. And so an unlikely relationship blossomed on the dark streets of Baghdad. That friendship deepened when, one night in 1998, five years before the U.S. and Britain invaded, the pair shared a life-or-death experience on a stroll around the Iraqi capital. Suddenly, a red laser dot appeared on the British scientist's clothes over his heart: an unseen sniper had him in his sights. The laser beam moved slowly upwards until it was trained on the centre of Kelly's forehead. Amid unbearable tension, the red dot remained t here for what seemed like an age. The sniper didn't pull the trigger - it was simply a warning. Iraqi officials brushed off the incident, sniggering that it was just 'kids playing around'. But Kelly knew his life was in grave danger, informing his younger companion that he had been told by intelligence sources that he was number three on a Saddam Hussein death list as a result of his work. The late Dr David Kelly is pictured leaving The House of Commons, Tuesday July 15, 2003, after giving evidence to the Commons select committee. Shrugging off the risks, he told Pederson he couldn't abandon his mission, but that he expected to be found dead in the woods near his home in Oxfordshire, rather than in Iraq. It was a claim he repeated to other close friends. It turned out to be a chillingly accurate prediction. Memories of those tense, heady days and nights came flooding back for Mai Pederson this week as the seventh anniversary of the death of David Kelly, her close friend and confidante, approaches on July 17. It is a tragedy which continues to be cloaked in controversy. 'We started out as work colleagues and he became like an older brother to me,' she told me when we met this week in America. 'He was a man of impeccable integrity, honour, dignity and respect. His family meant everything to him, as did his work. 'It is time the facts came out.' Pederson hasn't met with Kelly's wife since his death, but Mrs Kelly did testify to the Hutton inquiry that Pederson was 'influential' in his life and had become a family friend. Kelly, as is now well-known, was found dead in the woods near his home in July 2003, having supposedly used a blunt knife he'd had since he was a boy to hack into a tiny, deep vein and bleed to death - even though little blood was found at the scene. Despite leaving no note for his wife or his beloved daughter, who was due to get married three months later, the government's Hutton Inquiry into his death concluded in 2004 that Kelly committed suicide after being named as the source of a BBC report suggesting that Tony Blair's spokesman 'sexed up' intelligence about Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction in order to justify going to war against Iraq. After repeated calls for a full inquest into Kelly's death, the Labour government instead decided that official papers about the affair should be kept secret for an unprecedented 70 years - and, even more bizarrely, the reason for that decision is itself a state secret. But now, amid signals that the new British coalition government may re-examine this utterly perplexing case, Kelly's former translator - and spiritual soul-mate - has come forward to give the saga a dramatic, compelling new twist. In damning evidence to the new attorney general, Dominic Grieve, who has indicated his 'concerns' about the case, Pederson revealed that Kelly could not have killed himself by hacking into his wrist - because he could only move his arm with difficulty due to an old injury. 'He couldn't even cut a steak,' says Pederson, holding her own arm out stiffly to mimic his disability. 'He hurt his elbow and was incredibly weak in that arm.' She also rubbished claims he had taken 29 Co-Proxamol painkiller pills before cutting his wrists, saying he struggled to swallow pills. For Kelly suffered from 'unexplained dysphagia' - a syndrome that can make it almost impossible to swallow pills, while food and other substances are ingested without a problem. This has been confirmed by other friends. Pederson recalls offering him a pill for a headache which he refused, saying he couldn't swallow any pills and explaining he'd had the problem for years. Speaking exclusively to the Mail, the twice-divorced Pederson - who is fluent in five languages - insisted that she was determined to honour the memory of a 'kind, brilliant man' by unearthing the truth about who really killed him, saying: 'This cries out for a formal, independent and complete review. 'If that means stirring the ashes, so be it. 'The death of David Kelly is not just about him or about the tragedy for his family - it affects all of us. The facts don't add up and the responses from the British government don't add up.' More than anyone else - even, perhaps, including Janice, Dr Kelly's widow - Pederson knows the truth about Kelly's frame of mind at the time of his death, and, intriguingly, how he had even made plans for the future once the fuss over the BBC story had died down. From the time in the late Nineties that they became acquainted, they made an unlikely pair. He, introverted and studious; she, Kuwaiti-born to Egyptian parents and vivacious. According to an ex-husband, she was actually an American spy with eyes that could 'bewitch' any man. After meeting in Iraq in 1998, right up to the day of Kelly's death, the pair spent as much of their time together as possible. When they were apart, they regularly kept in touch by phone and email. Other staff on the UN weapons inspections team in Baghdad assumed the bearded, scruffy English scientist was as dull as he looked. But after he started accompanying Pederson on her walks, she discovered a different side to Kelly. While she listened in silence, she says, he chatted away animatedly about his wife and children and how he loved taking daily walks in the woods near his home. She found it distracting and relaxing. Indeed, the pair became as close as it's possible to be without sharing a bed. In the following years, Kelly made frequent trips to America to see her(he was often in the U.S. on UN business and for meetings with other top scientists). He was also reputedly thinking about moving there permanently. Between dozen of trips to Iraq on inspection tours, as Britain and America sought a legal case for war against Saddam, the pair met regularly at locations around the U.S from California to Alabama. In a sign of just how deep their friendship went, Kelly was even officially registered as living at three houses Pederson owned in America. This was, apparently, simply a favour to enable him to have US. credit cards with an American mailing address. A devout agnostic, Kelly decided to convert without informing his wife to the Baha'i faith, of which Pederson was a follower. He gave up alcohol and started attending Baha'i meetings. Not surprisingly, colleagues whispered that the pair were having an affair. Could it have been true? 'I did not have an affair with Dr Kelly,'Pederson says firmly.' His family meant everything to him. I'd met his wife and daughters. 'His work was his mistress.' Now 49,with piercing brown eyes, Pederson says the British academic - who was 20 years older - was not her type and it would, in any case, have been a court martial offence under U.S. military regulations to have an affair with a married man. Yet her decision to submit this new dossier of evidence to the British government has reignited the politically charged debate about whether Kelly was murdered. Already she has been attacked by John Rentoul, official biographer of the former prime minister (and, ironically, a columnist for The Independent, which denounced the Hutton Inquiry), has branded publication of her claims as' contemptible'. BBC journalist Tom Mangold, meanwhile, denounced Pederson as a conspiracy theorist who must'believe in the tooth fairy' and demanded to know why she had taken so long to speak out. Yet Pederson has tried to give evidence repeatedly. In fact, less than a month after Kelly's death, she agreed to meet two British detectives who flew out from London to question her. She spent two days telling them all she knew about the case and explaining why she believed the scientist could not possibly have committed suicide. Yet, like many others in this saga of contradictory evidence and unanswered questions, her attempts to shed light on Kelly's physical as well as mental condition have been repeatedly rebuffed. Indeed, two days after British police interviewed her and promised she would not be named on account of her sensitive work with the military her name was leaked to the then Labour supporting Times newspaper and she was portrayed as a shadowy Mata Hari figure. While his family say Kelly was depressed, Pederson says he was nothing of the kind. He had even phoned her at the height of the drama surrounding the row about the leaks to the BBC about the 'sexed-up' Iraq weapons dossier, cheerfully saying he was driving to a place in the West Country to escape the Press and that he would come out to see her in a couple of months. Alarmed by the media attention after her identity was disclosed, Pederson moved in to Air Force accommodation to live in seclusion. There, she privately offered to give evidence to the Hutton Inquiry on condition that her identity was disguised as it had been for British intelligence agents called to give evidence. Hutton refused. More recently, frustrated by the lack of action over her evidence, her Washington lawyer Mark Zaid sent a letter last year to Baroness Scotland, the then Labour Attorney General. Receipt of the letter was acknowledged in a single line reply from her office. But,again, nothing happened. Now,however, Pederson hopes someone will finally listen. And yesterday she received a much more sympathetic response from the office of new Attorney General Dominic Grieve, advising her to speak to the group of doctors currently launching their own legal challenge to make all documents relating to his death public. She does not, she insists, have a 'smoking gun' evidence of who killed Kelly or why. But she's convinced he was murdered. 'None of it makes sense anyone can see that,' she says. The suggestion that Kelly could have been murdered by British government agents seems preposterous. But did the Establishment have evidence that a 'hit' was planned against Kelly by Iraq and fail to act? There have been repeated rumours that police were aware he had gone missing long before his family reported him overdue from his walk. Or could Iraqi exiles have silenced him because his claims (about there being insufficient evidence of weapons build up to justify an invasion of their country) were at odds with their desire to see Saddam deposed? In truth, Mai Pedersondoesn't know the answers. But what she does know is that the official story has gaping holes. She says:'The more time that passes with the Government ignoring the contradictory evidence, the more conspiracy theories will grow and faith and trust in the Government will lessen. Legitimate questions deserve answers. 'The British Government owes him, his family and the country the full truth, whatever that might be. Dr Kelly can no longer speak, so we must do so for him.' There is, of course, a way for the new government to try to put an end to the controversy by seeking answers to the unanswered questions. If there really is nothing to hide about the baffling death of Dr David Kelly, why, then, does so much remain hidden?
  7. I received the following E mail from a Scottish journalist who works from a mainstream paper. I know his identity but he asked it not to be revealed. Suffice to say I have verified his name. It is up to the reader to discern whether the following information is accurate but it fits in with related information previously featured on this website. The E mail is edited for clarity. ================================================================= I'm a reader from Glasgow, Scotland in the United Kingdom. I'm a journalist and stand-up comedian and heard some bits and pieces from a BBC reporter who was on Tony Blair's far-east tour plane following Kelly's death. A conversation was overheard by this BBC reporter between Tony Blair and his press secretary Alistair Campbell. The conversation was heard folowing the press conference when Blair was asked if he had Dr Kelly's blood on his hands and Blair froze and didn't answer. Campbell, a notorious ranter was heard to say: "What the fuck was that, you know the line on this, what were you doing, why didn't you answer." Blair's response was inaudible and Campbell was then heard to say: "This is what you wanted, you asked for this so play the game Tony." Since then Blair continually trotted out the line about waiting for the Inquiry before commenting. Normally in the UK Public Inquiries take months and months before they start but this one was pushed through quickly because Tony Blair is apparantly on the verge of cracking. Campbell needs to get this over and done with ASAP and then have Chancellor Gordon Brown installed as Prime Minister before the end of the Year and give him plenty of time to get the people on his side before the 2005 elections. Secondly a contact of mine, a former MI6 spook, was speaking about the circumstances of Kelly's death. He said he's been taught how to "make anything look like anything" and said that there must have been some kind of struggle at the scene of Kelly's death. He said it was sloppy work that Kelly's body was found with enough pills for an overdose but hadn't ingested them, he said that should have been removed from the scene under normal procedure. He added "You can slit someone's wrists and make it look like suicide easily but it's a lot harder to make someone swallow tablets." He also said the heart monitor pads found on Kelly's chest were "simply there to make sure he was dead." He also said those should have been removed and suspects the agents involved were disturbed by someone in the process of the killing. I just thought some of this shit might have been interesting to yourselves. I'm happy to contribute occasional pieces of information every now and then but I'd rather you didn't publish my name along with anything I send you.
  8. 'Kelly was Murdered' Says UK Intelligence Insider Simon Aronowitz: ThoughtCrimeNews.com/PrisonPlanet.com Shocking new details about the death of Dr David Kelly emerged exclusively today on the Alex Jones radio show. Michael Shrimpton, a UK national security lawyer who was a guest on the show, revealed that sources within MI5 and MI6 are `furious' that Kelly was murdered. Shrimpton spoke in depth about the details of Kelly's murder on 17th July 2003, information which has been withheld by the British press. With apparent backing from the organisations whose members he claims to speak for, Shrimpton presented their view that Dr Kelly had been murdered by a team of assassins and the charade of an apparent suicide was then played out to cover this up. Speaking with impeccable credentials, including contributions to the Journal for International Security Affairs and having previously given a closed-doors confidential briefing to the US Senate Intelligence Committee, Shrimpton exploded the much-reported myth that Dr Kelly had taken his own life. He spoke of the probable method of Kelly's death, the group which most likely carried out the assassination, who arranged it and finally where the responsibility lies. Additionally, he explained the political context and motive for Kelly's murder. David Kelly went missing on 17th July 2003 and was found dead on 18th July. In the previous days, Kelly had testified before Parliament's Foreign Affairs Select Committee that he was not the source of a BBC story which had accused the Government of making false claims about Iraq's WMD. When Kelly's body was found, the British press quickly reported it as a suicide, though several analysts had their doubts. On Jones' show, Shrimpton explained how he had learned that David Kelly was the BBC's source before the BBC disclosed this fact. He went on to explain that his source from within the intelligence community knew David Kelly personally, and did not believe that he had committed suicide. After making their own enquiries, says Shrimpton, this source determined that Dr Kelly had not committed suicide, but rather had been assassinated. Apparently at ease to discuss these explosive disclosures, Shrimpton explained that there was advance knowledge of Kelly's death in Whitehall, but that the deed itself was most likely carried out by the French external security organisation, DGSE. There was no indication that anybody in MI5 or MI6 had been involved. He went further by suggesting that the hit squad itself was composed of Iraqis from the former regime's Mukhabarat intelligence organisation, recruited from Damascus with the help of Syria's own intelligence apparatus. They were apparently then flown into Corsica, seven days prior to the murder. He doubts that any of the hit-squad are still alive. Officially, Kelly's body was said to have been found in a copse, in a wood, but the forensic tents were set up in the adjacent field, suggesting, says Shrimpton, that the body was found in the field. This has not been explained to his satisfaction. The incision in Kelly's wrist was probably to conceal the injection of both Dextroprypoxythene, the active ingredient in Co-Proxamol, and Succinylcholine, a muscle relaxant, rather than as evidence of his bleeding to death, as highlighted by a group of six doctors in letters published in the British press. Shrimpton further agreed with the doctors by pointing out that Kelly only had one Co-Proxamol tablet in his body and that this was not sufficient to kill him. According to Shrimpton, Kelly was murdered because he had been talking to the press and there was a fear of what else he might discuss with journalists. Furthermore, Kelly was due to return to Iraq and may have learned fresh information on that trip which Whitehall could not afford to trust him with. Shrimpton's appearance on Jones' show gave him the first public opportunity to bring forward his information, since the story has been effectively censored by the British Press, who according to Shrimpton are concerned about losing the pro-Euro Tony Blair as Prime Minister were they to publish details of Kelly's assassination. Blair's departure, he says, could threaten Britain's proposed adoption of the Euro as the national currency. Whilst this story begins to circulate in the USA, the coverage in the UK may well remain nil, whilst maneuvering behind the scenes attempts to pre-empt Shrimpton's accusation of government-sanctioned murder of one of its own operatives. Only with public support, and a belief that this information should be widely known, can this information be brought into the wide open and covered by the mainstream media.
  9. Diana Assassination Conspiracy:Ex-MI6 Agent Raided by DAILY EXPRESS A raid on the home of a former British spy was sensationally linked to the Princess Diana inquiry last night. French secret servicemen and police stormed a property owned by renegade MI6 agent Richard Tomlinson. They arrested the 42-year-old ex-spy before seizing computer files and personal papers from his home in Cannes on the French Riviera. Tomlinson’s career put him in a position to give compelling insights into the thinking of Britain’s spymasters about Diana in the years before her death. His position at the heart of the spy network gave him a unique view into what lay behind the Paris crash which killed the Princess, her boyfriend Dodi Al Fayed and driv er Henri Paul in August 1997. Tomlinson’s yacht, which was moored near his flat, was also "turned upside down," according to those involved in the raid last week. The former secret service agent, who has spent time in prison for writing about his spying experiences, is understood to have twice met team members of the Lord Stevens inquiry into the death of Diana and assisted them.

And I just fucked him over, BIG TIME> Asshole cannot see any fucking quotes in the last two pages, I'll tell you what his lameass punchline will be - "" - TELEGRAPHED ahead of the FUCKING TITANIC 30 mins ago!!!! K U N T Oh sweetie do be careful There's a good chap You're going to hurt yourself I, Richard John Charles Tomlinson, former MI6 officer, of Geneva, Switzerland hereby declare: 1.. I firmly believe that there exist documents held by the British Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) that would yield important new evidence into the cause and circumstances leading to the deaths of the Princess of Wales, Mr Dodi Al Fayed, and M. Henri Paul in Paris in August 1997. 2.. I was employed by MI6 between September 1991 and April 1995. During that time, I saw various documents that I believe would provide new evidence and new leads into the investigation into these deaths. I also heard various rumours which though I was not able to see supporting documents I am confident were based on solid fact. 3.. In 1992, I was working in the Eastern European Controllerate of MI6 and I was peripherally involved in a large and complicated operation to smuggle advanced Soviet weaponry out of the then disintegrating and disorganised remnants of the Soviet Union. During 1992, I spent several days reading the substantial files on this operation. These files contain a wide miscellany of contact notes, telegrams, intelligence reports, photographs etc, from which it was possible to build up a detailed understanding of the operation. The operation involved a large cast of officers and agents of MI6. On more than one occasion, meetings between various figures in the operation took place at the Ritz Hotel, Place de Vendome, Paris. There were in the file several intelligence reports on these meetings, which had been written by one of the MI6 officers based in Paris at the time (identified in the file only by a coded designation). The source of the information was an informant in the Ritz Hotel, who again was identified in the files only by a code number. The MI6 officer paid the informant in cash for his information. I became curious to learn more about the identity of this particular informant, because his number cropped up several times and he seemed to have extremely good access to the goings on in the Ritz Hotel. I therefore ordered this informants personal file from MI6's central file registry. When I read this new file, I was not at all surprised to learn that the informant was a security officer of the Ritz Hotel. Intelligence services always target the security officers of important hotels because they have such good access to intelligence. I remember, however, being mildly surprised that the nationality of this informant was French, and this stuck in my memory, because it is rare that MI6 succeeds in recruiting a French informer. I cannot claim that I remember from this reading of the file that the name of this person was Henri Paul, but I have no doubt with the benefit of hindsight that this was he. Although I did not subsequently come across Henri Paul again during my time in MI6, I am confident that the relationship between he and MI6 would have continued until his death, because MI6 would never willingly relinquish control over such a well placed informant. I am sure that the personal file of Henri Paul will therefore contain notes of meetings between him and his MI6 controlling officer right up until the point of his death. I firmly believe that these files will contain evidence of crucial importance to the circumstances and causes of the incident that killed M. Paul, together with the Princess of Wales and Dodi Al Fayed. 4.. The most senior undeclared officer in the local MI6 station would normally control an informant of M. Paul's usefulness and seniority. Officers declared to the local counter-intelligence service (in this case the Directorate de Surveillance Territoire, or DST) would not be used to control such an informant, because it might lead to the identity of the informant becoming known to the local intelligence services. In Paris at the time of M. Paul's death, there were two relatively experienced but undeclared MI6 officers. The first was Mr Nicholas John Andrew LANGMAN, born 1960. The second was Mr Richard David SPEARMAN, again born in 1960. I firmly believe that either one or both of these officers will be well acquainted with M Paul, and most probably also met M. Paul shortly before his death. I believe that either or both of these officers will have knowledge that will be of crucial importance in establishing the sequence of events leading up to the deaths of M.Paul, Dodi Al Fayed and the Princess of Wales. Mr Spearman in particular was an extremely well connected and influential officer, because he had been, prior to his appointment in Paris, the personal secretary to the Chief of MI6 Mr David SPEDDING. As such, he would have been privy to even the most confidential of MI6 operations. I believe that there may well be significance in the fact that Mr Spearman was posted to Paris in the month immediately before the deaths. 5.. Later in 1992, as the civil war in the former Yugoslavia became increasingly topical, I started to work primarily on operations in Serbia. During this time, I became acquainted with Dr Nicholas Bernard Frank FISHWICK, born 1958, the MI6 officer who at the time was in charge of planning Balkan operations. During one meeting with Dr Fishwick, he casually showed to me a three-page document that on closer inspection turned out to be an outline plan to assassinate the Serbian leader President Slobodan Milosevic. The plan was fully typed, and attached to a yellow "minute board", signifying that this was a formal and accountable document. It will therefore still be in existence. Fishwick had annotated that the document be circulated to the following senior MI6 officers: Maurice KENDWRICK-PIERCEY, then head of Balkan operations, John RIDDE, then the security officer for Balkan operations, the SAS liaison officer to MI6 (designation MODA/SO, but I have forgotten his name), the head of the Eastern European Controllerate (then Richard FLETCHER) and finally Alan PETTY, the personal secretary to the then Chief of MI6, Colin McCOLL. This plan contained a political justification for the assassination of Milosevic, followed by three outline proposals on how to achieve this objective. I firmly believe that the third of these scenarios contained information that could be useful in establishing the causes of death of Henri Paul, the Princess of Wales, and Dodi Al Fayed. This third scenario suggested that Milosevic could be assassinated by causing his personal limousine to crash. Dr Fishwick proposed to arrange the crash in a tunnel, because the proximity of concrete close to the road would ensure that the crash would be sufficiently violent to cause death or serious injury, and would also reduce the possibility that there might be independent, casual witnesses. Dr Fishwick suggested that one way to cause the crash might be to disorientate the chauffeur using a strobe flash gun, a device which is occasionally deployed by special forces to, for example, disorientate helicopter pilots or terrorists, and about which MI6 officers are briefed about during their training. In short, this scenario bore remarkable similarities to the circumstances and witness accounts of the crash that killed the Princess of Wales, Dodi Al Fayed, and Henri Paul. I firmly believe that this document should be yielded by MI6 to the Judge investigating these deaths, and would provide further leads that he could follow. 6.. During my service in MI6, I also learnt unofficially and second-hand something of the links between MI6 and the Royal Household. MI6 are frequently and routinely asked by the Royal Household (usually via the Foreign Office) to provide intelligence on potential threats to members of the Royal Family whilst on overseas trips. This service would frequently extend to asking friendly intelligence services (such as the CIA) to place members of the Royal Family under discrete surveillance, ostensibly for their own protection. This was particularly the case for the Princess of Wales, who often insisted on doing without overt personal protection, even on overseas trips. Although contact between MI6 and the Royal Household was officially only via the Foreign Office, I learnt while in MI6 that there was unofficial direct contact between certain senior and influential MI6 officers and senior members of the Royal Household. I did not see any official papers on this subject, but I am confident that the information is correct. I firmly believe that MI6 documents would yield substantial leads on the nature of their links with the Royal Household, and would yield vital information about MI6 surveillance on the Princess of Wales in the days leading to her death. 7.. I also learnt while in MI6 that one of the "paparazzi" photographers who routinely followed the Princess of Wales was a member of "UKN", a small corps of part-time MI6 agents who provide miscellaneous services to MI6 such as surveillance and photography expertise. I do not know the identity of this photographer, or whether he was one of the photographers present at the time of the fatal incident. However, I am confident that examination of UKN records would yield the identity of this photographer, and would enable the inquest to eliminate or further investigate that potential line of enquiry. 8.. On Friday August 28 1998, I gave much of this information to Judge Herve Stephan, the French investigative Judge in charge of the inquest into the accident. The lengths which MI6, the CIA and the DST have taken to deter me giving this evidence and subsequently to stop me talking about it, suggests that they have something to hide. 9.. On Friday 31 July 1998, shortly before my appointment with Judge Herve Stephan, the DST arrested me in my Paris hotel room. Although I have no record of violent conduct I was arrested with such ferocity and at gunpoint that I received a broken rib. I was taken to the headquarters of the DST, and interrogated for 38 hours. Despite my repeated requests, I was never given any justification for the arrest and was not shown the arrest warrant. Even though I was released without charge, the DST confiscated from me my laptop computer and Psion organiser. They illegally gave these to MI6 who took them back to the UK. They were not returned for six months, which is illegal and caused me great inconvenience and financial cost. 10.. On Friday 7th August 1998 I boarded a Qantas flight at Auckland International airport, New Zealand, for a flight to Sydney, Australia where I was due to give a television interview to the Australian Channel Nine television company. I was in my seat, awaiting take off, when an official boarded the plane and told me to get off. At the airbridge, he told me that the airline had received a fax "from Canberra" saying that there was a problem with my travel papers. I immediately asked to see the fax, but I was told that "it was not possible". I believe that this is because it didn't exist. This action was a ploy to keep me in New Zealand so that the New Zealand police could take further action against me. I had been back in my Auckland hotel room for about half an hour when the New Zealand police and NZSIS, the New Zealand Secret Intelligence Service, raided me. After being detained and searched for about three hours, they eventually confiscated from me all my remaining computer equipment that the French DST had not succeeded in taking from me. Again, I didn't get some of these items back until six months later. 11.. Moreover, shortly after I had given this evidence to Judge Stephan, I was invited to talk about this evidence in a live television interview on America's NBC television channel. I flew from Geneva to JFK airport on Sunday 30 August to give the interview in New York on the following Monday morning. Shortly after arrival at John F Kennedy airport, the captain of the Swiss Air flight told all passengers to return to their seats. Four US Immigration authority officers entered the plane, came straight to my seat, asked for my passport and identity, and then frog marched me off the plane. I was taken to the immigration detention centre, photographed, fingerprinted, manacled by my ankle to a chair for seven hours, served with deportation papers (exhibit 1) and then returned on the next available plane to Geneva. I was not allowed to make any telephone calls to the representatives of NBC awaiting me in the airport. The US Immigration Officers - who were all openly sympathetic to my situation and apologised for treating me so badly - openly admitted that they were acting under instructions from the CIA. 12.. In January of this year, I booked a chalet in the village of Samoens in the French Alps for a ten day snowboarding holiday with my parents. I picked up my parents from Geneva airport in a hire car on the evening of January 8, and set off for the French border. At the French customs post, our car was stopped and I was detained. Four officers from the DST held me for four hours. At the end of this interview, I was served with the deportation papers below (exhibit 2), and ordered to return to Switzerland. Note that in the papers, my supposed destination has been changed from "Chamonix" to "Samoens". This is because when first questioned by a junior DST officer, I told him that my destination was "Chamonix". When a senior officer arrived an hour or so later, he crossed out the word and changed it to "Samoens", without ever even asking or confirming this with me. I believe this is because MI6 had told them of my true destination, having learnt the information through surveillance on my parent's telephone in the UK. My banning from France is entirely illegal under European law. I have a British passport and am entitled to travel freely within the European Union. MI6 have "done a deal" with the DST to have me banned, and have not used any recognised legal mechanism to deny my rights to freedom of travel. I believe that the DST and MI6 have banned me from France because they wanted to prevent me from giving further evidence to Judge Stephan's inquest, which at the time, I was planning to do. 13.. Whatever MI6s role in the events leading to the death of the Princess of Wales, Dodi Al Fayed and Henri Paul, I am absolutely certain that there is substantial evidence in their files that would provide crucial evidence in establishing the exact causes of this tragedy. I believe that they have gone to considerable lengths to obstruct the course of justice by interfering with my freedom of speech and travel, and this in my view confirms my belief that they have something to hide. I believe that the protection given to MI6 files under the Official Secrets Act should be set aside in the public interest in uncovering once and for all the truth behind these dramatic and historically momentous events.
