Devon Pitlor by Danielle Laurint

With Devon Pitlor as our guide

Across the stormy skies we ride

The thorns of beauty at our side

For it's triteness we cannot abide

Our love, his fiction, we cannot hide.

Through darkened glasses he has us peer

Into worlds of wonder filled with fear

Offering each a vision clear

Of unseen vistas bleak and drear

But oftimes filled with joy and cheer.

To each blank face he holds a glass

That mirrors how his legions pass

The molecules of his awesome mass

Are spread like daisies on the grass

For the pleasure of his winsome lass.

A great tower, his tier hovers high overhead

Shadowing the puny, the miserable, the dead

The carping hyenas who howl to be fed

With cuttings and pastings not worth a shred

Are banished and scatter away from his thread.

O Devon, O Devon, live long and write

From banality save us with all of your might

Raise up your lantern to brighten the night

Never abandon your noble flight

To greatness at the summit of beauty and light.

:cheer:

I believe that's a poem could be sung to the Star Spangled Banner tune without any sweat. Once heard the tune was once for an old drinking song.

With Dani around here, it may not be long before they are singing it.

Slow night over there, Dani? I can see you through the glass. You don't seem any busier than I am. Thanks for the song lyrics. This may be the first song dedicated to me in English. On break, you can hum the tune for me. You really pulled out some rhyme this time. I like the subject of the verse. In fact, it is my favorite.

X just suggested to me on community mail that each department add another verse tonight as the night goes on. I think it will be a fun idea if trade doesn't pick up.

Sounds nice. The way "trade" is going over here tonight, we could turn this into an epic ode before midnight. Anyway, I like songs about me. Who doesn't? See you in a few. My board looks like they dropped a bomb on West Africa. A graveyard. I can start a new story, I guess, while you people add verses to my song.

If it is so slow, why don't we go check out chat in five minutes or around 9:21?

I'm game.

I'm sure Devon is.

We are all slow tonight.

I'm giving up chat for now. It never has gone very far on this forum since Stevie was imprisoned for his impure thoughts.

Hey guys!! Nice poem, Dani. Read your last story too, Dev. Liked it. Don't get over to this silly place much anymore. Nothing happening in my sector either. I brought an Etch-a-Sketch to work. Do you guys want to play with it on the break?

Hey U. !!! Can't play with your etch a sketch right now. Dakar just started jumping around. Gotta watch that. Hey U. Did I ever tell you about the action on Bioko (Malabo)??? You need to see me about that if you're still archiving. Weird all the way. Like fiction but not.

In a few.

Devon Pitlor by Danielle Laurint

With Devon Pitlor as our guide Devon is our guide?

Across the stormy skies we ride We are riding in the stormy skies?

The thorns of beauty at our side What is a thorn of beauty and what is it doing at our side?

For it's triteness we cannot abide I'll agree with this one

Our love, his fiction, we cannot hide. And this one too.

Through darkened glasses he has us peer He has never given me any dark glasses to peer through

Into worlds of wonder filled with fear Huh?

Offering each a vision clear How can it be clear through darkened glasses?

Of unseen vistas bleak and drear A bleak vista is clear

But oftimes filled with joy and cheer. When does that happen?

To each blank face he holds a glass Of that cheap cognac he swills?

That mirrors how his legions pass He has legions?

The molecules of his awesome mass He ain't that big.

Are spread like daisies on the grass The image sounds really gay.

For the pleasure of his winsome lass. Not Meredith I'm sure.

A great tower, his tier hovers high overhead That's true.

Shadowing the puny, the miserable, the dead Yes

The carping hyenas who howl to be fed Yes

With cuttings and pastings not worth a shred Yes

Are banished and scatter away from his thread. Kinda

O Devon, O Devon, live long and write You address him like a god or whatever

From banality save us with all of your might He is trying, I'll give him that

Raise up your lantern to brighten the night I can't picture Dev with a lantern of any kind

Never abandon your noble flight The only noble flight he takes are these free trips to Africa at our expense

To greatness at the summit of beauty and light. Sounds like an image on a dollar bill
