The Mystery of the Tarot ….part 1

Hello Seekers

From ancient times arcane wisdom had been in the possession of certain spiritually advanced teachers. Kept aside, for only those who were serious seekers, the teachings were called The Mysteries, because they were written in symbolic language using archetypes and symbols. Like those individuals in the days of Jesus, many looked, but did not see, because they had not developed ‘spiritual eyes’. For this same reason, Jesus hid his wisdom in parables, because without spiritual understanding and seeking, the words make no sense to the casual listener, who is often given to mocking and ridicule.

Down through the centuries, the symbolism of the Tarot has fascinated humanity. Most use the cards as a divination tool, and often the Tarot is associated with Gypsies. The origin goes back further than the Gypsies, to the time of the ancient Egyptians. The symbolism of the Tarot is attributed to Hermes Trismegistus, who was said to be the one responsible for giving the Egyptians the skills to build their civilization. Hermes was the father of almost every area of learning, from astronomy to medicine to cultivation and lettering. He name was so powerful that he became not only a god in Egypt later on, but in Greece as well when he was made into the winged messenger; the god who brought knowledge and wisdom from the spiritual realm to humanity. This seems to be an apt description of the scope of the knowledge Hermes transmitted to the Egyptians.

According to Edgar Cayce, Hermes was not a human consciousness at all, and neither was Jesus Christ. A body was chosen, and the mind of the Logos placed pure consciouness within the body. This for the purpose of placing humanity back on the path each time it strayed.

But who is the Logos?

There is One Mind, which has created many forms of Itself.

As a cell in a body would split, this is how Divine Mind replicated Itself into billions of forms, all of the same body.

Separate personality and will was granted to each portion of Itself. (Here, one only has to think of the fractal nature of the universe, to see this principle of cascading levels. If one has ever gazed at a fractal, you have been witness to the process.)

Billions of universes, and billions of separate portions of One Conscious Mind, all setting the unique patterns for spiritual and physical evolution in each universe.

In the writing of Hermes, he calls humanity, the third God. That would make humans, a direct creation of the Logos. In fact, as the Bible points out, nothing was made in the cosmos without the Logos. Also called the Master Worker, working alongside the Father. The term Father and Son are quite appropriate since the son came from the father and humanity came from the Logos.

The accuracy of Jesus words is backed up by the knowledge given in the writings of Hermes, for Jesus makes the statement, ……”I and the Father are One”…and this in the most profound sense of the word, having come into existence from a father, yet the father having not had a creator. Yet they are One.
Humanity being replicated itself is part of that Oneness.

I began this with the idea of arcane knowledge being hidden in symbols. It was after the Logos in the person of Hermes had gone physically from the earth, that the number of those who forgot they were sons and daughters of God, increased drastically. This was the beginning of the darkness which would envelop the earth until a large percentage of humanity has totally forgotten their connection and divinity. This is the atmosphere which prevailed, when the Logos for the last time, took human form, and “the word became flesh.

The world Jesus was born into was becoming increasingly dark, and only a small number remembered their divinity, but it would get even darker in the future, and the hunt was on to destroy all arcane knowledge and any who taught it.

After Jesus left the earth scene a great darkness was to fall upon the earth, until the time, when the a portion of humanity would begin to remember and begin to seek.

Not only did Hermes hide the wisdom well from the unworthy, but he hid it from the eyes of those who went about burning and sacking and gutting every place of learning. Just as the hidden meanings in the words of Jesus would be unlocked, so the wisdom in the Tarot would be found and understood.

In the following posts tomorrow and until the end of the set, I hope you the reader will stay with me as we follow the path of Hermes Trismegistus with his lantern, as he shows us the pit falls in our path, and assists us, in our upward climb to the Infinite Mind of God.

Hello Seekers
I have covered the Magician and the Fool on previous posts, and later this may be covered if there is enough interest, but for now I wanted to cover some other archetypes, and I choose the Tower. My comments in brackets.

THE TOWER.

I saw a lofty tower extending from earth to heaven; its golden crowned summit reached beyond the clouds. All round it black night reigned and thunder rumbled. Suddenly the heavens opened, a thunder-clap shook the whole earth, and lightning struck the summit of the tower and felled the golden crown. A tongue of fire shot from heaven and the whole tower became filled with fire and smoke. Then I beheld the builders of the tower fall headlong to the ground.
And the voice said: --
"The building of the tower was begun by the disciples of the great Master in order to have a constant reminder of the Master's teaching that the true tower must be built in one's own soul, that in the tower built by hands there can be no mysteries, that no one can ascend to Heaven by treading stone steps.

((Here, Hermes, shows the contrast between the way humans see truth and what truth really is. He was saying that the path to God is not found in any church or cathedral, as those have steps of stone, but he was referring to the flesh and blood temple built in one’s own soul.))

"The tower should warn the people not to believe in it. It should serve as a reminder of the inner Temple and as a protection against the outer; it should be as a lighthouse, in a dangerous place where men have often been wrecked and where ships should not go.”

(( Those who believe in religion and formal worship look to the outer world. But the inner world one carries with them within the heart. The illusion of spirituality, is called religion.))

"But by and by the disciples forgot the true covenant of the Master and what the tower symbolized, and began to believe in the tower of stone, they had built, and to teach others to so believe. They began to say that in this tower there is power, mystery and the spirit of the Master, that the tower itself is holy and that it is built for the coming Master according to His covenant and His will. And so they waited in the tower for the Master.”

((They were dazzled by the splendor of the eyes. The pomp and ceremony, the candles, bells, incense, music and surroundings all adding up to make a spectacular impression on the mind. This said the disciples must be holy. But all this splendor distracted the disciples from the true path. This was not the true temple.))

“And so they waited in the tower for the Master. Others did not believe this, or interpreted it differently. Then began disputes about the rights of the summit. Quarrels started, 'Our Master, your Master,' was said; 'our tower, your tower.' And the disciples ceased to understand each other. Their tongues had become confused.”

(( the account of the Tower of Babel is as symbolic as is the Tarot, and the same wisdom is hidden in both. Human’s seeing only the outer world, split themselves into separated groups, each claiming to be true disciples. The common language of truth became distorted, when they forgot the spiritual side and could only see the physical side of everything. The truth was abandoned for dogma.))

“ Others did not believe this, or interpreted it differently. Then began disputes about the rights of the summit. Quarrels started, 'Our Master, your Master,' was said; 'our tower, your tower.' And the disciples ceased to understand each other. Their tongues had become confused.
"You understand the meaning here? They had begun to think that this is the tower of the Master, that He builds it through them, and that it must and, indeed, can be built right up to Heaven.
"And you see how Heaven responded?"

((The Tarot displays the illusion and traps of the physical world. The Tower was just a reminder of the real Temple within the human mind and was never meant to replace the inner Temple. All the time humanity spent in stone edifices, listening to talk about the true temple, while never being told it was within each one. Hermes, holds up his lantern of truth for us to see in a different way. More light allows us to see with sudden brilliance, the path to the temple within. ))
