Let's pick up with the post that prompted the call for discussion:
Kali: The Hindu Godess Mother Kali
MOTHER KALI
The Destroyer of Demoniac Attributes
It is unfortunate that Devi is ignorantly understood by many as a mere blood-thirsty Hindu Goddess. No! Devi is not a vicious demoness nor is She the property of the Hindus alone. Devi does not belong to any religion. Devi is that conscious power of God. The words Devi, Shakti, etc., and the ideas of different forms connected with these names are concessions granted by the sages due to the limitations of the human intellect; they are by no means the ultimate definitions of Shakti.
Listen, I only know what I have read and if you can show me definitive proof that it is a male form, then YOU WIN!
You are really fucking competetive about this shit, but since neither of us speak Indi or are Hindus, we are really just taking the words of certain authors concerning this shit whether it's true or not. I read about Kali Yuga through Evola and his Revolt Against the Modern World and in it he makes an excellent case for the abandonment of tradition when men surrender to women-
I will say this, the descriptions of Kali Yuga all point to a dimishment of male energies and a rapid expansion of female energies.
"Dominated by women, all men dance to their tune like a monkey controlled by its trainer. Sudras instruct the twice-born (Brahman, Kshatriya and Vaishya) in spiritual wisdom and wearing the sacred thread, accept the worst type of gifts. All men are given over to sensuality and greed and they are irascible and hostile to the gods, to the Brahmans, to the Vedas as well as to the saints. Unfortunate wives desert their accomplished and handsome husbands and bestow their hearts on a paramour. Wives having their husbands alive have no ornaments on their person, while widows adorn themselves in the latest style."
On race mixing- oops, "caste mixing"-
"In the Kali age there ensues a confusion of castes (due to promiscuous intermarriages) and every one infringes the sacred laws. Men perpetrate sins and reap suffering, terror, disease, sorrow and desolation. Overcome by delusion they walk not in the path of devotion to Sri Hari, conjoined with dispassion and wisdom - a path which has the approval of the Vedas, - and invent diverse creeds of their own."
Sounds like our version of 'tolerance' and 'inclusion'.
On equalitarianism-
"For all that, one that is being dragged by Time is unconscious of the noose thrown round one's neck;. when the daughter-in-law will set the aged mother-in-law to work, when the son, through delusion, will command the father to work for him, when Sudras will have their feet washed by Brahmanas and have sexual congress fearlessly with women of regenerate families, when men will discharge the vital seed into forbidden wombs, when the refuse of houses will begin to be carried upon plates and vessels made of white brass, and when sacrificial offerings intended for the deities will begin to be borne upon forbidden vessels, when all the four orders will transgress all restraints."
On metrosexuals and other sundry freakins-
"They began to derive great pleasure from sports and diversions in which their women were dressed as men and their men as women."
Shit, this stuff reads like an Indian Yockey

Where do I begin with this? The above post is totally subjective to the writer's feelings and very little fact. Let's break it down to what, exactly, defines male vs. female energy and why is females are so threatening to some men.
The best sample for feminine vs. masculine energy that I know of is yin and yang. In Chinese philosophy (and very, very coincidentally, Mayan), the symbol for yin/yang is positive (white) vs. negative (black). However, this is not a subjective, judgemental depiction of the goodness or badness of an energy. White (positive) refers to outward manifestation of one's own purpose: will. The aggressive putting out of energy. Black (negative) energy is receptive, contemplative and nurturing energy.
Here are the symbols that graphically portray how the energies work in the world:
Mayan Hunab Ku symbol.
Eastern Yin/Yang symbol.
Note that in each instance there is a "relationship" between the two energies. When one is ebbing the other is peaking. But even the peak contains some (as with the dot in the centers of the yin/yang symbol) of the other energy.
The best explanation I have run across is that the
highest expression of Yang (male, positive energy) =It is truth with love
and the
highest expression of Yin is love with truth.
It is also an error to beleive that men are yang and females are yin. There are combinations of energies in each being, depending on their vibration (which has a lot to do with the exact placement of the energies existant in the Universe at the moment of birth.)
If the author of the above diatribe is railing against an overabundance of love energy at this time, my answer to that is "huh?"
Where is the love, receptivity and unconditional giving?
What I see in this world is an overabundance of male energy. Warring, competing, giving value to material properties and the overall lack of regard to individual life (unless it pertains to some advancement for Self.)
The Mayan symbol is very curious as it shows a spiral in the center... but that's another story.

I confess when I read the OP in the other thread, again here, and more of the link at hindu.co.za I got sense of polarity. That is, that the writer presupposes it must be one or the other (male or female), and that one or the other is "good" (read right).
Exhibitng female energy, in a male human does not, to me, mean emasculation, feminisation in the popular sense of that word, rather the integration of other aspects of humaness, represented by yin and yang, currently not accessed or displayed.
yin and yang might be better for us to use because of the prejudice with whih we all seem to vhave come to view the words "masculine" and "feminine" and the associated societal connotations?

Exactly, merlinnz. I happen to have a lot of supposed "male" energies. I am creative and willful (however, hopelessly attracted to men.) That never seemed to me to be unnatural until I entered male-dominated organizations.
I scored high in the exams when I was young and stupid and thought the Navy would give me an "adventure." I went in as an intelligence specialist. Talk about a male-dominated environment! After A school and C school (with considerable cost to the taxpayer) and a high class-ranking, I was made to be the driver for the C.O. of NFIO (Naval Field Operational Intelligence Office in Suitland, MD.) He just wanted an ornamental status symbol. This, in spite of the fact that, having just been in Germany where the minimum age for driving is 21, I didn't even have a license.
Here I was hoping for a smuggling titanium briefcases into enemy territory life-threatening assignment that needed wit to survive.
Maybe I'm stubborn, but many of the best have tried to beat me into submission. I never succumbed and now, I'm very glad I didn't.
I wonder how many women have put away their dreams and desires, creativity and skills in order to just get along?

Oh. I see. You're on the rag and it's some guys fault.
"Let's break it down to what, exactly, defines male vs. female energy..."
You first. It's your premise.
"... and why is females are so threatening to some men."
I prefer to discuss women and men, not females and men, and not women and males.
I'm not threatened by women (unless they are trying to stick a knife in me, or trying to take advantage of their sex in Family Court to rob me of my children)
Perhaps you'd like to re-state your argument?
Please avoid any Freudian Psychoanalysis -- that crap has been discredited for 50 years.
Only high school drop-outs and feminists cite Freud.
HTH!

I disagree with your attributions of male energy. "Warring, competing", yes. "giving value to material properties and the overall lack of regard to individual life", no. Those are not predominantely male.

What are you, about 22 years old? Recent Womyn's Studies Graduate?
I wonder how many *people* have put away their dreams and desires and skills in order to just get along.
So far, you are the one to hang a disappointment tag on people by their sex.
Everybody faces disappointment in their lives and careers.

Consider the warrior women leaders of the world.
Catherine The Great. Cleopatra. Margaret Thatcher? Queen Elizabeth I or II? Queen Isabella of Spain?
Ask yourself this: Are there any rekowned, accomplished women rulers in history who DIDN'T involve their countries in warfare?
Go as far back as Deborah in the Old Testament Book of Kings if you like.
It's always the same: Women were rarely leaders of their tribes/nations, but they were every bit as ruthless as their contemporary men.
---Flash forward---
Late 20th century.
More women than men have the right to vote in the USA.
More women than men actually vote... And they elect men to represent them.
Conclusion: Women prefer electing men to political office.

I also disagree with the whole notion of male vs. female. So let's just say that it's positive vs. negative energy or polarities, ok?
Nothing would make me happier than if everyone were valued for their own merits, regardless of gender.
All people make mistakes. Queen Elizabeth was a brilliant head of state. Name one male leader that was perfect.

| Male energy is directed, focused, goal-oriented, productive, and outward-thrusting or positive-charged (as in a magnet). It corresponds with linear, left-brained thinking, and with doing. Its positive pole (as I channeled it) is exertion and penetration; its negative pole is intrusion. Female energy is creative, process-oriented, unstructured, and inward-drawing or negative-charged. It corresponds with circular, right-brained thinking, and with being. Its positive pole is expansion and generation; its negative pole is chaotic destruction. Female energy conditions the environment, whereas male energy structures it. The male body is designed to put male energy forward, and the female body is designed to put female energy forward, so there is a masculinity just from being in a male body, even when the soul is high in female energy, and vice versa. All else being equal, a man with seventy-five percent male energy is more focused and has more “drive” (not necessarily inappropriately) than a man with forty-five percent male energy, because there is more male energy there to put forward. Of course, the reverse is true regarding female energy and women. |
The above is true in general.
