I am a Christian who doesn't normally read/respond to these types of threads because they are pointless...nobody ever changes her/his mind/beliefs...

They're unrelated, except in an anecdotal sense (i.e., "I was molested by a priest and I dealt with that by turning to booze").

The issue was emotional crutches, and it would be lying to state that those who lack religious belief, do not lean/rely on crutches.

By the same argument, it would be lying to state that those who do hold religious beliefs do not lean/rely on crutches including alcohol and drugs.

thanks, that's what I think too (there have been too many positive changes in my life for that to have been Something Evil), but there are things (like what gnostics believe about the creator of this world being evil) that do trouble me to some extent.
