Armed pizza deliveryman shoots, wounds would-be robber
A Papa John's Pizza delivery driver told police that he drew his own handgun and shot a gunman who tried to rob him Thursday night in southeast Memphis.
The 18-year-old he shot was being held in custody Friday at the Regional Medical Center at Memphis in fair condition.
Only eight months before and about three miles west, another Papa John's driver, 56-year-old Ron Brake, was fatally wounded during a robbery after delivering pizza at an apartment complex in Hickory Hill.
[EDIT: The Driver had a handgun carry permit.]

Grag Palast wrote a book about this country, "Armed Madhouse".
More than one, but neither seem to be relevant to this thread from what I can tell.

Well, with one delivery man murdered and this one robbed at gun point how in the hell will Papa John's get anybody to deliver to that area if they do?
The suits have probably already hired a PR firm to determine if there is more public opinion damage from firing him or just re-assigning him and writing him up. Or hell after that he may not want to work for them anyways.

I used to work/live in that neighborhood.
Unfortunately, the driver will probably lose his job.

Hopefully someone will offer him a better one.
Some older guy in the next city over shot and killed some hoodlum that was trying to rob him in the parking lot of a restaurant last year. And I kid you not, several people called the restaurant and told them that they wanted to pay for his meals the next time he came in. He also was offered a job at a pool supply store.

Did you see the robber's response to the police? That the pizza delivery guy just started shooting him? ummm.... the guy had a stolen gun and no handgun permit (I assume) vs the delivery guy who was just trying to eek out a living with a legal permit. Who you gonna believe?
