Two teenagers. Trapped in a home in New Orleans. Tanya
is 17. Her father is a cop. Her mother is a nurse. Her
parents are trapped at work by the flood.
Carl is her 19 year old boyfriend. High School sweetheart.
She can't tell her parents about him. He is trapped with
Tanya in her home.
The water is rising. Move to the second floor. Move to
the attic. He grabs an old broom handle and starts trying
to break out through the ceiling. The water is rising. Carl
hits the boards with his fists. Something gives way. He tears
at the boards with his bloody hands. As he climbs out to the
roof, water flows out behind him. He dives back in and pulls
Tanya out. She is unconscious and her clothes are torn from
being pulled through the narrow opening. Carl begins CPR. A
rescue helicopter,sent by her father arrives. It hovers overhead.
Tanya coughs up water and begins to revive. A single shot rings
out. Carl, a black teenager, is dead. Tanya screams in anguish
as her rescuers force her to realese her hold on Carl's body.
They promise to come back for him.
In the helicopter they give her a blanket and tea. As the
helicopter flys away from the scene, Tanya, a white teenager,
throws herself out the door of the helicopter. Her body has not
been found.
