Undead

If you want to read the story from the beginning, just follow the link in my sig to the PWR library.

Thanks for reading.

This is looking a hell of alot better, undead! I'm really impressed with the backgrounds! You should probably hint at them in the other panels though I'd do some studying on how other comic artists handle that by either setting an establishing shot and then simplyifying the rest like you've done or if they continue to show the background from various angles.

I know Randall's supposed to be self-luminated, but you generally want to avoid 'pillow shadowing' as it's usually viewed as an amateurish style (but not if it's a stylistic choice by someone who does know proper shading)

Anyway, I've quickly sketched up a possible method for you to consider.

Regarding the the pathetic bleating of herdlings, they affect me as much as a fraction of an annoying insect. Partying hard here too. lol. lots of beer in the evening and even more coffee in the morn! Schools about to start and I'm currently doing some freelance flash work for an indy game company so things are looking up in general... :)

good to hear! the way i figure it, as long as we are here from time to time, we are doing okay. life is too short, enjoy as much of it as we can! you still in cali? ever gonna settle your ass down? lol! keep doing what you do, your art is great man! doing any camping/fishing? you should be! the skies are full these days of magic!
Draconis
Too true. I've gotten to the point in life where I won't deal with other peoples shit anymore. I'm too old for it. Camping sounds great! Sounds like you had a lot of fun. I'd love to do that again sometime and maybe head down to Santa Cruz to enjoy the beach. Maybe next vacation. Classes are coming up and as soon as that happens, I gotta bolt my ass to the desk. lol.

Nice!

Now I remember why I post stuff on-line.
All I need to do now is figure out how to draw that. :)

This one is particularly well done. I like Draconis' suggestion; it would make quite an impact.

Thanks!

My goals are pretty simple.
Just make each one better than the last.

Like most things, the only way to get better is to do it.

The suggestions (and harsh criticisms), continue to be an enormous help.
Praise is encouraging, but nowhere near as helpful as complaints. :)

Did you use some sort of digital prog on this latest one?
If not, wow you jumped light years on your technique!

Mostly photoshop.
When I moved a few months ago, I set myself up with a mini-studio, including a really cool digital screen that you can draw on.

Wacom tablet <-- check out the video

I also have some cool 3-d modeling software for building stuff.
I built 3-d models for everything except Randal. (didn't have time)

That's part of what took so long between the last page and this one.

I start with a rough sketch, build and pose the models (like posing clay figures), and draw the real page over the models.

This is what it looked like when I started...

5 minutes to start

15 hours to finish

10 seconds to read
Fay
Good job!
Draconis
You built the models? That's even more impressive! What software are you using? I know you're using poser to help with the human figures but what are you using for the background?

Regarding the randall drawing, any drawing program that supports layers and airbrush is all you need really...And since you have CS5, you've got the power!
